Talking in the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I don't plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead till I feel better concerning the route of our nation."

"I'm not okay with the state of this nation. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I could have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied with your nation, you let or not it's recognized through protest. The home of the courageous should encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action in opposition to gun violence in the US.Kerr refused to speak about basketball forward of Game 4 of the Warriors' series against the Dallas Mavericks, as an alternative elevating his voice as he railed towards gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's taking pictures.
