The policy, disclosed in leaked emails Musk sent to Tesla's govt staff Tuesday, was first reported by electric vehicle information website Electrek.
"Anybody who wishes to do remote work have to be in the office for a minimal (and I imply *minimal*) of 40 hours per week or depart Tesla. That is lower than we ask of manufacturing facility staff," Musk wrote, adding that the office must be the worker's main workplace where the opposite workers they regularly work together with are based mostly — "not a distant department office unrelated to the job duties."
Musk mentioned he would personally evaluation any request for exemption from the coverage, but that for the most part, "In case you do not show up, we'll assume you may have resigned."
Tesla (TSLA) didn't respond to a request for comment on the policy change, however Musk appeared to substantiate it in a tweet of his own early Wednesday when requested on Twitter, "Hey Elon...any additional remark to individuals who assume coming into work is an antiquated idea?"
