DALLAS - The excessive court will allow a wrongful death lawsuit to proceed against the city of Dallas and four cops.

The family of a person who died in police custody in 2016 sued.

Tony Timpa known as police for help as he had a drug and mental health crisis.

The town fought towards releasing body digital camera video and whit it did come out it was obvious why. It showed the officers mocking the dying man.

One had his knee on Timpa’s again and neck for almost quarter-hour and the medical expert mentioned that contributed to his demise.

The town of Dallas argued the officers are legally protected from lawsuits.

The Supreme Court docket upheld a federal appeals court’s ruling that may allow the case to proceed.

"The decision signifies that the case can proceed to trial and that there shall be no extra delays from any appellate court. Also, the decision signifies that the Fifth Circuit did it proper that their ruling relating to lethal force would be the law of the land at the very least in Mississippi, Texas and Louisiana for so long as we all know," said Geoff Henley, an attorney for Timpa’s household.

Those are the states coated by the Fifth Circuit Courtroom of Appeals ruling permitting the go well with to continue.
