Days after at the least 19 elementary school college students and two academics have been killed in a mass capturing at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, college students at colleges across the country staged walkouts to protest gun violence.

In Michigan, students at Oxford Excessive School, the place a faculty shooting occurred in November, staged a walkout at 12 p.m. on Thursday. Four students had been killed within the capturing.

"You see information daily about children getting shot and other people your age dying and it is just incredibly unhappy and unbelievable, especially to see like kids younger and children my age," Janoff instructed ABC News. "I cant imagine that being me; but it is imaginable as a result of it occurs so often."

The 17 year-old says her faculty's administration was in help of the walkout and he or she hopes the over 200 planned demonstrations across the nation ship a clear message that college students are a "united front."

A walkout could not essentially change legislation, Janoff mentioned, but these actions present "college students are nonetheless united in this."

She stated that although most college students aren't old enough to vote, they still want to see change and are willing to take measures to have their voices heard in politics.

"Students do not need to be quiet about it simply because they are a kid," Janoff said.
