LIBERTY COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC/Gray Information) - An incident that involved players from a university’s lacrosse crew and deputies in Georgia stays under investigation.

WTOC reports Delaware State University President Tony Allen launched a press release on Monday responding to the incident that reportedly occurred on April 20 in Liberty County.

Allen wrote Georgia legislation enforcement stopped a bus for a minor visitors violation with the Delaware State Lacrosse workforce on board. Deputies searched the belongings of the student-athletes, including suitcases with drug-sniffing canine.

“100% you may’t be in that left lane at all,” said a Liberty County Sheriff’s Deputy.

The staff was returning home from a sport in Florida and traveling by a contracted bus, in accordance with Allen.

Liberty County Sheriff William Bowman held a news conference concerning the incident but took no questions. He claimed that no private objects on the bus have been searched.

Body digicam video obtained by WTOC, however, clearly confirmed the deputies going by the students’ luggage and even medication.

The university president wrote in his assertion that videos taken by gamers showed regulation enforcement attempting to intimidate them into confessing to possession of drugs and/or drug paraphernalia.

“They didn’t really ask us,” said Sydney Anderson, a Delaware State Lacrosse Participant. “They knowledgeable us of what they’re gonna do and no one questioned them...we simply let them rattle by our stuff.”

A player on the bus requested: “How did we go from being in the wrong lane to going by way of our bags?”

A deputy responded: “Properly, he stopped y’all, he didn’t stop y’all for a visitors violation...he stopped the driver for a site visitors violation.”

Nothing illegal was discovered in the search, and Allen knowledgeable the public that he has contacted Delaware’s governor, the Black Caucus and other state officers.

Allen wrote that everyone was incensed over the incident.

Allen additionally added the next:

“We don't intend to let this or any other incident prefer it cross idly by. We're ready to go wherever the proof leads us. We've got video. We have now allies. Perhaps extra significantly, we now have the braveness of our convictions.”

Allen concluded his assertion by writing, “We will never be bullied into believing anything other than what we are: Americans, learners, academics, builders—useful and honorable people able to soar.”
