A California district lawyer declined to file expenses Tuesday against former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police experiences and movies of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no fees be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office concluded its evaluation of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery in opposition to another passenger on an airplane whereas waiting at the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe mentioned in a statement.

"Our resolution is that we'll not file any prices against Mr. Tyson based mostly on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These include the conduct of the sufferer main as much as the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of each the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no fees be filed on this case," Wagstaffe said.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the particular person was harassing Tyson. The video didn't present what occurred earlier than the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file expenses by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement businesses "for his or her careful, diligent, and professional work."
