A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass taking pictures, authorities stated.

In a press release Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office stated it had discovered earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" sent by a pupil at an elementary school.

It stated its local school menace enforcement crew was immediately notified and began investigating. The 10-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy will be seen being led into a police automobile.

“This scholar’s behavior is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno mentioned in a press release, noting that the menace came just days after the lethal college capturing at Robb Elementary College left 19 students and two teachers dead.

“Proper now is not the time to act like a little delinquent. It’s not funny,” he said. “This child made a faux threat, and now he’s experiencing real penalties.”

Marceno mentioned his workforce “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to analyze the incident.

The comment came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the Could 24 faculty taking pictures after it came to mild that they waited roughly an hour for backup as an alternative of instantly transferring in on the gunman.
