Federal agents entered Uvalde college to kill gunman despite local police initially asking them to wait

Federal agents who went to Robb Elementary College in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday to confront a gunman who killed 19 children were instructed by native police to wait and not enter the college — and then determined after about half an hour to disregard that preliminary guidance and find the shooter, say two senior federal legislation enforcement officials.
