800 workers resign after firm asks them to work from workplace

Because the Covid situation has improved, several firms have already called their staff to office, ending the work at home (WFH).

Nonetheless, it seems some staff wish to earn a living from home further. Lately, hundreds of staff have resigned when an organization requested them to come back to the workplace.

Over 800 WhiteHat Jr employees have resigned from the kids online coding learning edtech start-up within the final two months after being asked to work from workplace.

This comes after WhiteHat Jr, a platform which was acquired by BYJU’S in 2020, asked its workers to return to office inside a month’s time, in line with an Inc42 report.

On March 18, the company introduced the policy to end make money working from home and requested remote staff to return to workplace by April 18.

The resignations got here from full-time workers of the sales, coding, and math teams. Extra employees are anticipated to put down their papers in the coming months.

One of the employees who resigned instructed the web site that a month’s time was not enough for relocation. “Some have children, some have aged and sick parents, whereas others have other tasks. It is not right to call back employees in such a brief period of time,” the former WhiteHat Jr employee said.

One other worker mentioned salaries also factored in the determination to not return to the office. At the time of hiring, employees were instructed about their job location – WhiteHat Jr has offices in Gurugram, Mumbai and Bengaluru. However, after working from house for two years, workers believed that their salaries must be revised to replicate the cost of dwelling in costly cities.

“This was a well-planned and managed layoff that WhiteHat Jr did,” a former worker remarked.
