BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to take part in a mass faculty capturing that might have included a bombing at Berkeley High Faculty, police say.
The teen was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Department mentioned in a press release. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no faculty that day.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing destructive device supplies and threatening to commit a crime which can end in loss of life or nice bodily damage.
Police mentioned they acquired a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a shooting that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence.
Police did not say if the teen was a pupil at Berkeley Excessive Faculty.
Upon executing the search warrant, police mentioned they found elements to explosives and assault rifles, a number of knives, and electronic items that could be used to create extra weapons.
At that time, a warrant was obtained for the teen's arrest.

"College safety remains a high precedence for the department," police stated in a statement.
Particulars on whom the teen was making an attempt to recruit were not disclosed. Police stated this case stays under investigation.
Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens informed the college's community that the district was in close contact with police throughout this investigation.
After police confiscated the teen's weapon elements, the district relied on police experience to assess any potential ongoing risk to its faculties. The district communicated with police on the scholar's whereabouts.
"As added precautions throughout this period, we alerted our administrative and safety employees about this investigation and, as is our commonplace observe, maintained close contact with our BPD College Useful resource Officer on the Berkeley Excessive Faculty campus," Stephens wrote. "Throughout the investigation interval, we were assured that this individual did not pose an instantaneous menace to the Berkeley High College group."
The district is conducting their very own investigation on this matter.
The district might pursue disciplinary action against the coed.
